Jagiellonian University Medical College (JUMC) is the oldest Medical university in Poland, established by King Casimir III the Great in 1364, and the second-oldest university in Central-Eastern Europe, after Charles University in Prague (1348).

King Casimir III provided the funding for what JUMC was earlier known as Studium Generale and all lectures were held in the Wawel Royal Castle with 3 faculties of Liberal Arts, Medicine & Law

Studium Generale was modelled after the University of Bologna and Padua (1088)

After King Casimir's death, in 1400, King Władysław Jagiełlo resumed the development by formed the Collegium Maius (early 15th Century)

During the 15th and 16th Century, great Scholars graduated from JUMC one being Nicolaus Copernicus (1491-1495)

Who is Qualified?
Candidates that hold the following:
-
High school leaving certificate or leaving diploma:
-
an official document which states, the candidate's eligibility to apply to all types of higher education institutes (Universities).
-

High school certificates presenting with 'pass'/positive grades for Biology or Physics and Chemistry.
-
Document confirming English language fluency:
-
This document is ONLY required if your High-school was conducted in a different language of instruction other than English

Register and make an account on JUMC’s Online application system
-
TIP: Use an email address you use regularly, as you will receive all sorts of links and updates on your application

Follow the instructions and submit the application form:
-
After activating the account, log into the system and fill out all the forms asking for your personal data and educational history (click 'Personal forms')
-
Then click on 'Studies', in the blue menu bar on the right, and choose your course (Medicine) and click 'Sign up' (Green button)
-
After the sign-up process, your application will be under 'Enrolment applications'
-
Pay the application fee of 100 PLN
-
The candidate's application will ONLY be assessed once the application fee has been paid
-
The bank details are under the 'Payments' tab
-
Once the online application has been submitted, you will be notified through the University's online account or your email address regarding the status of the application (make sure you are always checking)

Once JUMC's admission committee successfully verifies your documents, you will receive an invitation to take part in the entrance exam. This will include additional access to exam preparatory material e.g. Past exam paper
-
Information about date, place and time of entrance exam will be sent to candidate, at least 2 days prior to the exam via the 'Messages' tab in the candidate's account.

On completion of the entrance exam, the results will be published in the system under 'Enrolment applications'
-
'Qualified for admission', if you see this status mentioned in the 'Enrolement applications' tab, then CONGRATULATIONS you have been accepted into JUMC!
How to apply?
How are Applicants assessed?
Candidates are admitted based on their given ranking (from 0 to 100) on the ranking list. The respective ranking given to the candidate is based on their performance during the entrance exam
Entrance Examination

There is NO Interview/Oral Exam

There is ONLY a Written Entrance Exam:
Entrance exam in 'Reasoning and Critical thinking in premedical sciences'
This test examines the candidate's analytical and logical problem-solving skills, based on the information provided. Knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics/Logic and Ethic is checked throughout the exam (graphs & charts are included).

Exam will be held in Kraków, Chicago or Oslo (for applicants from Scandinavia) in May/June
-
Due to COVID-19, the entrance exam will be he held online- more information will be mentioned once candidate's application is accepted
